It's not easy to retain vocabulary and expressions when studying a language, and it's challenging to get words out on the spot when you're having conversations. I hope these weekly posts could be good practice for your Japanese studies!!

野球 [Yakyuu]
野 [Ya/No] means field in Japanese
球 [Kyuu] means ball in Japanese
There were many names for baseball, but once baseball was translated into "field ball", "Yakyuu" eventually became the official name for the sport. That being said, the word "baseball" can be understood by most Japanese people so if you want to stick with English, there shouldn't be any problems.
