Beautiful Japanese Word of the Day #15
そよ風 (Soyokaze)
"Soyokaze refers to a gentle breeze"
そよ (soyo) is a Japanese Onomatopoeia, soyosoyo, which expresses the sounds of wind, or something swaying in the wind
風 (kaze) means wind in Japanese
A soft wind that blows in spring or autumn is often called soyokaze.
Writer's note: Soyokaze reminds me of the song, Kaze ni Naru, from the Ghibli movie, The Cat Returns. The atmosphere of the song portrays a gentle breeze, and it's one of my favorite Ghibli movies. What does soyokaze remind you of?
