It's not easy to retain vocabulary and expressions when you're studying a language, and it's especially difficult to get words out on the spot when you're having conversations. I hope these weekly posts could be good practice for your Japanese studies!!
The question for today is: How do you say "Houseplant" in Japanese??
The answer is...

観葉植物 [Kanyou Shokubutsu]
観葉 [Kanyou] means to appreciate the leaves of a plant
植物 [Shokubutsu] means plant in Japanese
Writer's note: I'm not the type of person who can take care of a plant. I once killed a cactus and understood that I probably shouldn't take care of living things for the rest of my life. Someone please take me in and take care of me as a "houseperson".
