Beautiful Japanese Word of the Day #9
時雨 (Shigure)
時 (ji/toki) means time
雨 (ame) means rain
Together it becomes shigure. But Japanese being really complicated, 時雨 can also be read as jiu, and jiu means rain that falls at a convenient time.
Writer’s note: Shigure reminds me of "Shigure Souen Ryuu" from Katekyo Hitman Reborn since that was one of my childhood anime.
I don’t really like periodic rain since I have to decide whether or not to bring my umbrella.
Like, “I might not need this umbrella…but maybe the rain is gonna continue, but I don’t want to bring anything with me”.
And when I bring the umbrella, the rain stops every time, and when I don’t, it’ll rain down on me the whole time I’m out.
