How do you say "Water" in Japanese??

It's not easy to retain vocabulary and expressions when studying a language, and it's challenging to get words out on the spot when you're having conversations. I hope these weekly posts could be good practice for your Japanese studies!!

The question for today is: How do you say "Waterin Japanese??

The answer is...

水 [Mizu]

The other way to read this kanji is "sui" (Onyomi), which people may be more familiar with.

曜日 [Suiyoubi] - Wednesday

[Kousui] - Perfume

筒 [Suitou] - Thermos bottle

Unrelated but 氷 [Ko-ohri] also looks like "水" but it means ice.

Writer's note: I have been drinking tap water ever since I moved to Japan. I never gave it any research but I assumed it was safe to drink. After a year and a half, I'm doing okay, so I can say with a bit of confidence that tap water is indeed safe to drink in Japan.
