It's not easy to retain vocabulary and expressions when you're studying a language, and it's especially difficult to get words out on the spot when you're having conversations. I hope these weekly posts could be good practice for your Japanese studies!!
The question for today is: How do you say "Foreshadowing" in Japanese??
The answer is...

伏線 [Fukusen]
伏 [Fuku] can mean to hide or lay down
線 [Sen] means line
伏線を張る [Fukusen wo Haru] means "to drop a hint", or "to leave an element of foreshadowing in a story"
Writer's note: I've been keeping up with One Piece and the foreshadowing is insane. I don't want to give any spoilers but I'm always surprised by how well Oda leaves slight hints for us, like Sanji's past, or the relationship between Laboon and Brook. What is your favorite foreshadowing?
