It's not easy to retain vocabulary and expressions when studying a language, and getting words out on the spot when you're having conversations is challenging. I hope these weekly posts could be good practice for your Japanese studies!!

風邪をひく [Kaze wo Hiku]
"Kaze" would typically mean wind in Japanese but the kanji for "wind" is 風, and "cold" is written out as 風邪, although they are both "kaze".
ひく [Hiku] means to pull.
Together, 風邪をひく means to pull the cold into your body.
Writer's note: I don't catch colds anymore now that I'm an adult but every other day I'm hoping that I'm sick so I can call off work.
