クッパ [Kuppa]
It comes from the Korean food "Gukbap" because it sounded strong according to the creator of Bowser. The higher-ups did not know the existence of Gukbap and allowed the name of the character.
Writer's note: Gukbap looks pretty good and I'm down to try it next time I'm down at a Korean restaurant. What's your favorite Korean food?
