What is Komorebi? BJWotD#6

Beautiful Japanese Word of the Day #6

木漏れ日 (Komorebi)

"Komorebi refers to rays of sunlight seeping through a tree"

木 (Ko) means tree

漏れ (More) means to seep or leak

日 (Bi) means sun or day

This word is often shown to exemplify the beauty of the Japanese language. There’s no English word quite like it, which comes to show the deep appreciation Japanese people have towards nature.

Writer’s note: I want to use this word in real life and sound like I’m a person with something profound to say, but I realized it sounds a bit too corny or a bit too poetic to be used practically so I just keep it to myself. Regardless I’ve always loved this word because just with a single word, one can imagine a whole scene in their mind. What does your komorebi look like?
