The sky is still dark during akatsuki. When the sun begins to lighten up the sky, Akatsuki changes to Shinonome, Akebono, and finally to Asaboyake. These are the four phases of dawn in Japanese.

With the war and pandemic creating a mess in our lives, I only hope that we are in the "akatsuki" phase. And we're just waiting for the sun that should be rising at any minute now.
